A Start to My Keto Journey
So I'm starting a new thing on Sunday. I'm making this a public goal because I want to be held accountable, but more than that, I want to document this. For the first week of June, I experimented with a Keto Diet and did really well. The problem came when I took an "indulgence day" AKA, a cheat meal. I went to a steakhouse and decided to eat a roll or two. It was delicious, but after that one meal, I fell off the wagon and continued to eat the carbs. I decided to not stress about it over the month of June and beginning of July because there was a lot of traveling and company in town. However, when I get back home on Sunday, I will be starting again with the Keto Diet, and following the challenge by Lele the creator of Ketofy.me which is a 100 day Keto Challenge with no cheat days.
I'm excited for the challenge because it will really push me to create new recipes, but more than that, get on track with my health and wellness. I've been struggling with being consistent with my health, even though I've decided I want to work on a lifestyle change. I want to lose 35 pounds. It may not seem like much, but for me, it seems an unbearable reach right now. So I'm going to start with mini-goals for myself. My first goal is to lose 10 pounds and to keep it off. I'm not sure how long that will take, but I'll be working towards it. I work out twice a week right now, and I plan to increase it once I get through the terrible phase of Keto.
I've read up on the Keto Diet a lot and am looking forward to the challenge it'll be for me. Based on the reading I've done, I've learned that I'll need to expect to go through a "keto flu" and it could take anywhere from 4-7 days to get into Ketosis. From there, I know I'll need to drink a lot more water, and I will probably need to take caffeine pills to help with the detox of getting off the soda, but also allow me to keep my energy up as I'll be weight lifting. The goal is to reset my body and get back on a healthy lifestyle.
I'll be documenting this through my blog. There may be some rough posts, but I think it'll be a worthy journey to document. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the successful. I originally thought I would do a 30 or 60 day challenge, but when I saw the printable for the 100 days, I figured this was a good option. I'll be purchasing groceries from ChocZero and Lakanto. I'll be continuing my Keto Protein and experiment with Keto snacks. In a later post, I'll share what products I purchased and try to review them as I try them. With the 100 day challenge starting Sunday, July 8, 2018, I will complete it by Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
Wish me luck on this journey!
